How To: ITH Keyfob Embroidery

1. Hoop your stabilizer. This should be tight like a drum. I prefer cut away stabilizer for

these types of designs (I use medium 2.5 oz). For most fob/keychain designs this is my go too. If one has really dense stitching I may add another layer and "float" that like I do with the vinyl in the next step.

2. Place hoop back in the machine and set a piece of vinyl on top. You can use blue tape to secure it, but I just leave it laying flat on top.

3. Run steps 1- second to last step (step 1 is optional and I know lots of people skip this - including me when I’m prepping large amounts for shows)

4. Before running the last step take the hoop out of the machine and place right side down on a flat surface. Take another piece of the vinyl and place on back of the hoop. Make sure it covers the design completely (including room for outline if you skipped step 1 in the design). Now use blue tape to secure the vinyl. The tape will not stick well to the stabilizer so attach to vinyl and the hoop itself when possible. Just make sure the vinyl that you're attaching is flat. Try not to get the blue tape in the design as you can remove it but it will not be pleasant.

5. Place hoop back in machine (if you want your bobbin thread to match the vinyl this is where I would also change this) and run the last step.

6. Cut the design out (trim any threads as needed depending on your machine) and you're done!
